SLG extension opens 26 June The SLG's expanded building opens on 26 June with
an exhibition of wall drawings and an exciting programme
of events for all the family. 6a architects have sensitively restored a
neighbouring house to create a cafe, an expanded
education and events space, small-scale exhibition
spaces and a flat for a programme of artist residencies. The gallery will be closed in April and May,
following Jessica Warboys' event, to complete the final
stages of the build.
New Family Advocates Scheme The SLG has received a grant from Arts Council
England to develop an innovative Family Advocates
programme. This is aimed at local parents who wish to
train in the field of family programming and return to
work. Two parents will work alongside SLG staff every
six months to devise and deliver a new family programme
for the SLGs new Clore Studio opening in June.
The Big Give We are thrilled to announce that more than
£33,000 was raised for the SLGs building project during
The Big Give 2009. Thank you to all those who made a
gift through The Big Give and to The Reed Foundation for
matching these donations. Thanks also to Outset
Contemporary Art Fund. This is a great boost in the
final stages of fundraising for the SLGs expansion and
means that we now only need £27,000 to complete the project. If you would like to support the building project
