The Living School: Poverty
SAT 12 MAR 2016, 12.30-5PM, £5/£3 CONC, THE IVY HOUSE, NUNHEAD, SE15 3BE
The Living School is a mobile event series organised by Brandon LaBelle which focuses on the issues of housing, common property, and the precarious subject.
For this second session in the series, the school will concentrate on the topic of poverty. Liz Allen, archivist at Toynbee Hall, Andrew Conio, lecturer at the University of Kent, and Andrea Luka Zimmerman of Fugitive Images lead presentations on indebtedness and liquidity, the history of the settlement house movement, and homeless communities who sustain a marginal existence. Poverty will be brought forward not only as a scene of being without, but equally as the basis for forms of resistance and expressions of weak-strength.
Book your tickets online or call 020 7703 6120.
Ticket collection will be at The Ivy House, SE15 3BE on the day of the event. Tickets will be on sale until 10am on Sat 12 Mar, after this time all pre-paid tickets can be collected from The Ivy House. For enquiries about this event please contact the gallery on 020 7703 6120.
