Art Assassins x Undocumented present a screening of Big City Stories, a compilation of archive films contextualising Black London before, during and after the Windrush. It combines footage of significant public moments with home movie footage and fiction dramas of everyday life.
The Art Assassins worked with Tape Collective and participated in workshops at Southwark Archives, Black Cultural Archives, Southwark Heritage Centre and Elim House Community Association, learning about the role of archives and the agency we all have in documenting our lives.
This screening is organised in partnership with Undocumented, a project led by The New Black Film Collective and London’s Screen Archives. Undocumented seeks to address the lack of Black stories in London’s film archives through a public programme that includes practical, discursive and intergenerational activities and sessions.
