Join us for a free, drop-in, creative workshop for families.

Celebrate your identity by creating your own suit or mermaid tail using collage with artist Chioma Opara. This activity is inspired by the inclusive and inspiring books Julian Is a Mermaid and The Spectacular Suit.

Suitable for children aged 5–12 years with their parents and carers.

 


ABOUT FAMILY SPACE

Family Space is a programme of free workshops that take place on the last Saturday of the month. Sessions are self-directed and designed for families with children aged 5-12 years old. The space is supported by the SLG’s Art and Play team.

ABOUT CHIOMA OPARA

Chioma – aka Chi or Chi-Chi (he/they/she) is a proud Nigerian-British illustrator, storyboard artist and facilitator based in London. Chioma is also a professional geek, which informs and inspires their practice. Their drawings combine digital and traditional media and they are passionate about spreading joy, amplifying underrepresented stories and accessibility.

Ear plugs, ear defenders, magnifying glasses and wheelchairs are all available.

BOOKING

The workshop is free and drop-in any time from 11am-1pm. No booking required. Places are available on a first come, first served basis.
