Join us for a screening of Get Rollin’, 1980, an American roller disco documentary film directed by J. Terrance Mitchell.
Set in Brooklyn, the film shares the stories of ‘Pat the Cat’ Richardson, Vincent ‘Vinzerrelli’ Brown and Inez Daniels who are all trying to become professional roller skaters. Experience the vibrant energy of the roller disco scene in 1980s New York.
For the SLG’s current exhibition Between Wood and Wheel, artist Christina Kimeze took inspiration from the film. Some of the works on paper, on display in the Fire Station galleries are scenes painted directly from the film.
