In 2019 the South London Gallery commissioned Céline Condorelli to deliver a co-produced playground for the nearby Elmington estate as part of their Open Plan programme, titled Tools for Imagination. Open Plan is a long-term public art and education project which invites international and UK based artists to create art with the SLG’s neighbours on the Elmington, Pelican and Sceaux Gardens housing estates.
In concurrence with Condorelli’s exhibition, the SLG will be holding two tours for visitors who wish to see the playground in situ.
Tours will be facilitated by the Open Plan programme team and will provide an opportunity for participants to not only see the playground in but also ask any questions they may have about the playground and its production (from conception to realisation).
Participants will be led from the Orozco Garden, at the back of the gallery, to the playground (a 15-minute walk) and back again.
These tours have been arranged to provide interested parties with an opportunity to visit the playground in situ. Otherwise, we politely request that audience members refrain from visiting the playground independently as the playground is situated in a residential area.
