As part of the SLG Live Art programme, Franko B was invited to premiere his new performance Still Life in 2002. The piece considered the notion of ‘still life’ from a range of formal and conceptual perspectives in fine art, the body as sculpture, and the still life of sleep.
As part of the advance publicity for the performance the artist designed a plastic carrier bag using photographs taken by Franko of homeless people, as part of his series, Still Life. The 2002 performance was later cancelled due to censorship imposed by the Council and the performance was not presented until 2004. Franko B’s practice encompasses sculpture, installation and live art.
