This year the UAL Camberwell College of Arts MA Fine Art Graduate Showcase takes place across the SLG Main Gallery and Camberwell College of Arts. The MA Fine Art includes specialisms in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
The exhibition acknowledges the shared history between the two organisations. The South London Gallery opened at its current site in 1891, and in 1898 the philanthropist John Passmore Edwards funded an adjacent Technical College, which became known as Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. Passmore Edwards also enabled the partial rebuilding of the South London Art Gallery so as to connect its buildings with those of the college, enabling them to operate initially as one organisation.
